My dad had a heart attack and his life alert unit failed to work. I have had absolutely no help from life alert in this matter. My dad lost power due to a bad storm in our area. During this time, he had a heart attack. He tried using his life alert and was unable to. The unit failed to work due to loss of power; however the battery unit should have worked as a backup;it failed also. We are supposed to be notified if the base unit is not communicating and life alert is supposed to run weekly tests. My dad sat in his chair all night having a heart attack until someone found him the next morning. I have contacted life alert several times and keep getting nothing but the run around. I want to know WHY the unit failed to work and what they plan to do about it or I want out of my contract so that I can sign him up with another service. As of now, he is still in the hospital. I am paying for a service that is not doing what it is supposed to do. My fatherly is elderly & lives alone. He also had throat cancer & cannot speak well. He sat there in the dark all night for hours while having a heart attack with no way to let anyone know he needed help. His roommate found him the next morning.…Read More
Desired Outcome
Due to the fact that the service we are paying for failed to work and due to the fact that they have blatantly ignored me I want out of my contract so I can sign my dad up with a more reputable company. At the very least I would like someone to respond to me as they have reassured me several times a supervisor would contact me and I've received absolutely NO response from life alert.I will not continue to pay for a service that DOES NOT WORK properly as a lifesaving measure.…

Due to the storm in the subscriber's area, the phone lines were down. This is the reason that the monitoring unit could not send a signal. The system has since been replaced with a cellular unit.
